Join the RECI–FoBBIZ Skills & Lifelong Learning (SLL) Working Group for an insightful talk on one of the most crucial challenges in vocational education and training (VET): how to effectively engage both the formal and informal private sector in the delivery of dual VET in Western Africa.
Throughout West Africa, informal learning systems remain the main means for young people to acquire skills. Development actors, including the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), support reforms aimed at making these systems more inclusive, better structured and more aligned with labour market needs, with a key role played by both formal and informal businesses. This Talk will explore how public and private actors can collaborate to strengthen dual training models adapted to West African contexts, drawing on practical experiences and an operational guide dedicated to private sector engagement.
The session, aimed at professionals in programme design, implementation, research, public policy and private sector development, will provide an opportunity to exchange views with practitioners from the region, including Bahoudé Touré, regional expert in vocational training, and Swisscontact expert Ibrahim Maïga.
