C<\/span>ombining literacy pathways with\u00a0<\/span>VET<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>is often considered\u00a0<\/span>in\u00a0<\/span>developing contexts<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0But even in Switzerland<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>this issue is<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>relev<\/span>ant<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>In fact,\u00a0<\/span>t<\/span>he\u00a0<\/span>latest<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>F<\/span><\/span>ederal Department of Foreign Affairs<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>(<\/span>FDFA<\/span>)<\/span>\u00a0Strategy 2025\u201328\u00a0<\/span>emphasis<\/span>es<\/span>\u00a0vocational education beyond basic schooling, making the integration of foundational and vocational skills both a practical concern and a strategic priority.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

This webinar makes the case for embedding basic literacy skills directly within VET systems. The session will present practical recommendations for project design, drawing on academic research and insights from three Swiss-funded programs in Africa \u2013 Enfants du Monde (Chad), Swisscontact (Niger), and Helvetas (Mozambique. Following this presentation, participants will be invited to share their reflections.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Cecilia Bianchi\u00a0<\/b>is a<\/span>\u202fSocio-cultural Project Manager <\/span>specialising in the inclusion of vulnerable<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>groups. She has six years of experience working with a Swiss association that provides reading and writing courses for adults with a migrant background and limited schooling<\/span>.
